Trauma Informed Care & Therapy

Attachment-Focused Therapy

Attachment-Focused Therapy
is a parent-and-child therapy designed to strengthen emotional bonds and foster secure attachment. Using Play Therapy and Theraplay® techniques, the therapist guides parent child interactions that build safety, trust, and connection. Sessions focus on four essential qualities of healthy relationships—Structure, Engagement, Nurture, and Challenge—helping children experience relationships as positive, predictable, and rewarding.

What Can Attachment-Focused Therapy Help With?

Who Can It Support?

Suitable for children aged 3 to 12 years, including those with disrupted attachments, who have experienced
trauma, instability, or separation, or who are developing new family relationships.

What Does It Look Like?

Sessions are interactive and play-focused, involving both the child and their primary carer. The therapist uses
playful, nurturing activities to create positive shared experiences and guide the carer in responding sensitively to the child’s emotional needs. Over time, these interactions help change the child’s view of themselves as worthy and lovable, and of relationships as safe and supportive.
